#11 Soraya Leila Emery (Zürich)

TURN ON

This film portrays the Zurich-based choreographer Soraya Leila Emery and shows her working on her group piece TURN ON. In this production, Soraya Leila Emery explores female pleasure from a feminist perspective. In the film, we see how the performers encounter each other using dance and grappling techniques (from Brazilian martial arts Jiu Jitsu) and explore the themes of pleasure and desire physically and choreographically. Through the film footage and interview statements by the choreographer, it becomes evident that for Soraya Leila this is an equally intimate and personal as well as socialpolitical topic that is being artistically addressed here.
