#12 Ruth Childs (Geneva)

FUN TIMES

This portrait is dedicated to the dancer and choreographer Ruth Childs and the creation process of her group piece Fun Times. Fun Times stages different variations of the English term 'fun': both the naive act of having fun (together) and the less conventional act of mockery. The film shows how Ruth Childs - inspired by music by US musician Meredith Monk and accompanied by sounds by Stéphane Vecchione - explores with the performers how these shared experiences of fun can be translated choreographically, vocally and musically. They do this in a tragicomic way that corresponds to our time, in which we no longer know whether to laugh or cry.
