#9 Cosima Grand (Zurich)

things veer

Portrait Nr 9 is dedicated to the choreographer Cosima Grand. In her new production things veer, she explores resonance on a physical, choreographic and emotional level as well as through sound techniques in collaboration with the performers Emma Saba, Hanna Hedmann, Nina Richard, Roger Sala Reyner and composer/producer Demi Jakob. The camera follows Cosima and the performers as they establish different rotating, rocking or bouncing choreographic principles, and as they explore resonance with their voices. The portrait shows how within a predefined structure, which still leaves space for spontaneous encounters, they become part of a web of resonating relationships. A piece arises whose dramaturgical stance may appear very conceptual and its choreography formalist, yet through its unpredictability potential for emotional resonance unfolds within it.
